TITLE: What More Do I Need Besides Grades, Test Scores & The Right Courses For Success in a STEM Field?
ABSTRACT: Standardized tests and grades have serious limitations in telling us what we need to know about the academic potential of students, including those in technical areas of study. An alternative system of assessment based on noncognitive variables, and the research supporting it, will be presented and discussed. The system is particularly useful in assessing the abilities of students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
