The Physics Department established a DEI Committee in September 2023. The purpose of the DEI Committee is to ensure the UMBC physics department is a welcoming community where all students, staff, and faculty are valued and supported.
Our key objectives are to:
- Promote a culture of inclusivity, respect, and equity within the department by listening to and implementing community feedback.
- Address discrimination and minimize bias within the department.
- Foster an environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are celebrated and supported.
For more information about the DEI Committee, proposing ideas, volunteering, etc., please contact the committee chair, Dr. Henrique Barbosa (hbarbosa@umbc.edu).
