Description
From Semiconductor Surfaces to Li-ion Batteries
ABSTRACT:
The research in our group ranges from semiconductor surfaces to Li-ion batteries. Semiconductor surfaces have been the focal point of our group since the beginning. We are particularly interested in the nanostructures formed when transition metals are deposited on various silicon surfaces. The main motivation behind our quest is the vast amount of applications ranging from optics to electronics that rely on transition metal/silicon interfaces. Therefore, I decided to dedicate the first half of my talk to our research on the studies of transition metal-modified Si surfaces. The second part of my talk is our newfound passion, Li-ion batteries. In that, we are particularly interested in transition metal chalcogenides. These materials are being used as an anode material in Li-ion batteries. We are exploring the correlation between the chemistry of the anode materials and the cyclability and the capacity of Li-ion batteries.
