PhD student C. Nunn wins prestigious NRC Postdoc Fellowship

PhD student Cory Nunn has recently been awarded a Post Doctoral Fellowship through the highly competitive National Research Council (NRC) Research Associateships Program (RAP) . Cory is currently finishing up his PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Todd Pittman, and will soon begin his NRC Postdoc at The National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD.

Cory's experimental research is in the area of quantum optics and quantum information processing with single photon qubits. His PhD work involved a new conditional measurement process called "Zero-Photon Subtraction" (ZPS), and led to several publications in prestigious journals. ZPS is of fundamental interest in the area of "quantum state preparation" and has practical applications in quantum communications. Cory will continue his research in quantum measurement and optical quantum information processing at NIST.
