Title Assistant Professor Education Ph.D. Physics – National Research Council (CNR-Italy), 2020 Previous Experience Dr. Suárez held a position of postdoctoral researcher in the group of Mohammad Hafezi at the Joint Quantum Institute-University of Maryland from 2021 to 2024. He then became a senior scientist at the group of Ajit Srivastava in the University of Geneva (Switzerland) from 2024 to 2025, after which he joined UMBC. Professional Interests I lead the Group of Quantum Optics of Correlated Materials. We experimentally explore the physics of correlated electronic systems in different solid-state platforms, including van der Waals materials and III-V semiconductors. We use optical techniques to study and manipulate the unique states of matter that emerge in structures where both light-matter and matter-matter interactions are strong. |
