Description

TITLE: Dust in the Wind: Thoughts on Entrained Mineral Dust, Life, and the Universe

ABSTRACT: Mineral Dust is the dominant aerosol in the atmosphere of Earth and is important for radiative transfer and climate change, fertilization of ecosystems, transport of microorganisms on Earth, Mars, and beyond. Yet, we know very little about properties of mineral dust, its entrainment and transport, and its role in earth and other systems. I will summarize some of this knowledge and, more importantly, future research needs.
