Description

TITLE: How to tame a silicon quantum computer

ABSTRACT: The quest for a useful quantum computer is well underway, with several different experimental approaches being explored in parallel. While a silicon-based approach is attractive for its potential to scale up to billions of qubits, it currently suffers from "charge noise," an electrical effect whose physical origin is not completely understood.  In the first part of this talk, I will give an overview of silicon spin qubits and the dominant sources of infidelity. In the second part of the talk, I will discuss my group's recent theoretical work towards improving fidelities by using pulse shaping and real-time feedback.
