Dr. Anthony Johnson elected to the APS Nominating Committee
Dr. Anthony M. Johnson, UMBC Professor of Physics, Professor of Computer Science & Electrical Engineering (CSEE) and Director of CASPR (Center for Advanced Studies in Photonics Research), was elected to the APS (American Physical Society) Nominating Committee by APS Council on November 15, 2015. The term on the Nominating Committee begins on January 1, 2016 and ends on December 31, 2018.
The Nominating Committee meets one day a year in a face-to-face meeting at the American Center for Physics in College Park, MD during the later part of February. The Nominating Committee shall prepare for the members of the Society a slate of a least two candidates for each of the positions of Vice President, Treasurer, Chair Elect of the Nominating Committee, and the vacant positions of General Councilor and International Councilor. The Nominating Committee shall also prepare a slate of candidates for each other position specified by the Board or the Council from time to time. The Nominating Committee consists of the Chair, Chair Elect, Past Chair, Past President and six elected Members.
