Ataca group highlighted in UMBC news and Phys.org

Two recent papers published in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces from Dr. Ataca's group have been highlighted in UMBC news and phys.org.

The first publication, written by graduate student Daniel Wines, former postdoc Dr. Fatih Ersan and Dr. Ataca, explores the discovery of new phases of two-dimensional group-III nitride alloys. By calculating the electronic, optical and thermoelectric properties, they demonstrated that these newly discovered materials can be suitable for future optoelectronic and thermoelectric devices.

The second publication (a combined theoretical and experimental work), written by PhD 20' graduate Jaron Kropp, co-advisor Dr. Theodosia Gougousi and Dr. Ataca, focuses on engineering the surface of 2D MoS2 with molecules for atomic layer deposition of thin films and ultimately device applications.

See UMBC news and phys.org for a full press release written by Sarah Hansen (UMBC 15').
